Sand in the sandwiches,
Sand in the tea,
Flat, wet sand running
Down to the sea.
Pools full of seaweed,
Shells and stones,
Damp bathing suits
And ice-cream cones.
Waves pouring in
To a sand-castle moat.
Mend the defenses!
Now we’re afloat!
Water’s for splashing,
Sand is for play.
A day by the sea
Is the best kind of day.

This School was founded in 1912 and was one of the first things we visited when we arrived here. It’s a beautiful, tranquil place now, though I can imagine it was a little noisier when it was operating as a School!

Taken this morning. By the side of the road.
I’ve taken to carrying my camera with me always and pulling over on the side of the road to make the image I see instead of driving passed wishing I’d stopped. I can think back over the years to loads of missed images because I didn’t stop. So… whatever stopped me taking the pictures before can wait. I’m making time for them now.
This is Global Village, open through Winter in Dubai and jam packed with fun things to do / see / buy in the evenings.

My folks were here a while back and we ventured out on a desert safari. It was an absolute blast and should be on the to-do list of any visitor to the UAE. I just entered this image into a local competition where no enhancements could be made to the image, though I have tweaked it a little in this post just to brighten up the drums.
