Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s back to work we go

Dear Blog,

Sorry for the neglect, I’ve been a little busy:

  • dipping my toes in the ocean
  • visiting friends in Avoca
  • making pizzas
  • playing in the surf at Pearl Beach
  • buying school uniforms
  • taking photos
  • taking a break
  • looking after my family
  • labelling school uniforms
  • sharing great food and laughter with my family
  • throwing the doors open
  • somersaulting in water with my 4 year old
  • making speedboats from sand
  • doing cartwheels (seriously!)
  • visiting the Powerhouse Museum
  • teaching kids how to tie shoelaces
  • exploring
  • daydreaming
  • reading for fun
  • doing nothing
  • lying in hammocks
  • playing with the kids
  • cooking
  • hanging out with my husband
  • having lovely, long conversations with my husband (with the usual interruptions from the kids)

And now I return, refreshed and ready for the sessions already booked this year and those to come. There are always hiccups though, and ours came in the form of this…

Late last year I was all set to sign up for the  J* workshop held in Sydney last week…. but my PC had other plans and an upgrade was required. For once I listened to my head, not my heart and placed the order.

I know the workshop was awesome, I’ve seen some of the images coming out of it already, and it hurts to not have been there, but I did the right thing. It wasn’t all plain sailing though. No sooner had I turned it on and it was the good old blue screen of death.

The only reason I’m sitting here typing this post now, is thanks in no small part to my darling husband who sat here for two whole days rebuilding my new, but broken PC.

So today’s post is for him. Thank you my sweet, I truly do appreciate the patience and perseverance you showed in getting this baby back up and running. M xxx

Have a great day,

February 18, 2010 - 12:27 pm Katie Toland - oh i feel your pain! i just had to replace mine too and its money I'd have so much rather spent on J*

Portraits by Miss J

Miss J and I were waiting for a friend in a coffee shop the other day and I was passing the time with her by taking a few shots. She complied for a while, and then asked if she could take my photo. She took several, and whilst I helped out with the exposure, she did shoot these in Manual. She wants to be a photographer when she gets older, but like I told her, she already is!

Have a lovely evening,

January 12, 2010 - 7:02 am Lisa - These are so cute! Tell Miss J that she can second shoot for me anytime her mummy can't. Look forward to catching up with you when I get back. L xx

January 14, 2010 - 10:16 pm ajoy krishna - superb shot! i love the color or depth of field.

Captain Grumpy Pants Takes a Road Trip

Not for the whole trip though :) He was remarkably well behaved on our road trip to Pearl Beach today. Awesome weather and great friends who shared a wonderful lunch with us. Thanks for a lovely day,

February 7, 2010 - 2:42 am Josephine - I love all the pouting!!

Make Believe

I think the new, savvy technical term these days is “freeplay“, but whatever it’s called, I like it! No batteries required, no staywires that take forever to remove a toy from a box, just pure, unadulterated imagination and make believe.

The object of this game is to build a volcano…

Enjoy the sunshine today,

It wouldn’t be a normal post without an image, so here’s a couple from the other day. Little man was determined to put the cap and goggles on himself…. not a bad job for a 3 yr old.

Enjoy your day
